Why I’m Loving the Black-White Eyeliner Look

I stumbled across a beauty inspo shot while I was browsing the “explore feed” on Instagram that made use of, not one, but two eyeliners. Of course, I’ve played around with black and white eyeliners before, but putting the two together never crossed my mind. After seeing it, I thought to myself, “How would I go about recreating this look? And is this something I could actually pull off IRL?” I had to experiment.

To start, I applied eyeshadow as a base over my entire lid. Lise Watier’s matte, creamy shadow in Péche Velours is perfect for the job. This natural shade covers lightly and gives all of the attention to the eyeliners.

I took my NYX Colored Felt Tip Liner in White and lined along the top lid, starting in the inner corner of my eye and carefully working my way out to create the flicked wing. Make this line fairly thick so that the white line is still visible even after you layer black eyeliner over top. To brighten my eyes, I also applied white pencil eyeliner in my waterline and into the corner of my eyes.

Next up: Quo Art of Lining eyeliner in black. I love this eyeliner because the tip is so fine it allows me to make clean and precise lines to get the exact look that I want. It’s perfect for perfectionists. Starting again in the corner of my top lid, I created a thin line right along my lashline allowing the white liner to show above the black. I applied black eyeliner right to the outer corner of my lid and ticked it up to make a cat-eye look.

Lastly, I finished the look off with my favorite mascara. This look is a little more dramatic, so I recommend L’Oréal’s Voluminous Superstar Mascara. I applied a few layers of the Step 1 primer and then coated my lashes with the Step 2 mascara making sure that I don’t miss any primed areas. Keep the black and white look for the lids, not the lashes! AMIRITE?

What I love most about this look is that it’s simple and fun to recreate. In just a few easy steps, you’ve got a dramatic evening look that is perfect for girls’ night out. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.
