Why I Can’t Get Enough of Cleansing Oils

If you’re a big beauty buff like me, the cleansing oil trend probably seems a bit passé by now. But it still shocks me how many people have never tried a cleansing oil. I’ve been a big advocate of cleansing oils for a few years now and I encourage all skin types to give one a go. When I try a new beauty product that completely changes my skin/routine/life/etc. I want to tell everyone (like, everyone) what they might be missing out on. So here are a few reasons (and a few of my fave all time cleansing oils) to think about next time you want to switch up your wash-and-go routine.

It’s The Best Makeup Remover
As a lover of waterproof makeup (mascara in particular) having a good remover is key. Nothing takes makeup off as easily and painlessly as cleansing oil. Every night before bed I smooth a cleansing oil over my entire face and lids and all my makeup just melts away, no scrubbing required. I love Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil as it’s super lightweight and you won’t have any residue leftover after you rinse it away. This is one of my personal faves for removing eye makeup.

It Won’t Dry Out Your Skin
If your skin is on the drier side and you find your regular cleanser leaves your skin feeling tight, you could def benefit from a cleansing oil. They remove dirt and impurities from the skin while keeping your natural moisture barrier intact so you’re left with a smooth, hydrated complexion sans irritation. And for oily peeps, it’s basically the same deal. Some cleansers strip too much oil from your face, causing your skin to over compensate by producing more oil. Try Biotherm’s Biosource Total Renewal Oil as it has the added bonus of being anti-pollution and for all you foaming cleanser lovers, this oil actually gets a bit sudsy!

You Can Find One That Targets Your Specific Skin Concern
Just like other cleansing formulas on the market, there’s a cleansing oil for every skin type, from oily to dry to aging to everything in between. Look for a specific formula that’s going to help you get your skin in tip top shape, whether it’s deep cleaning your pores or helping to fight fine lines. While I suffer from oily skin, I’m also concerned about aging so I often reach for Elizabeth Arden’s Ceramide Replenishing Cleansing Oil as it always gives my skin a glowy boost.
