The hairspray that helped me channel an ’80s pop icon

As Cyndi Lauper said, “girls just wanna have fun” and I am no exception. I have always been an admirer of extreme volume when it comes to hair. I loved the outrageous up-dos of Madonna and Cher and the Michael Jackson’s perfect combination of mullet and curl. My problem? My big hair doesn’t last past my lunch break.

In an effort to revive those fun oversized hairstyles (the 2016 versions, of course) I tried Rock Your Hair’s Spray It Hard Volumizing hair spray and absolutely loved it. The hairspray helped make my hair big and fabulous, just like my favourite 80s pop stars.

After a quick blow dry, I flipped my hair over and sprayed at the roots. The first thing I noticed was my hair was at least an inch shorter because of all the added lift on top. It also got rid of the unusual part I normally have at the back of my head. It was definitely an instant hold kind of product because my hair did not move at all once I finished styling. I got the most dramatic effect when I left my hair slightly damp then applied the hairspray before finishing my blow dry.

I was happy that it didn’t have that traditional chemically smell common in most hairsprays. The smell was lighter, more like baby powder. The only downside? I could feel the texture of my hair change (won’t lie it became almost crunchy) but I had fun 80s style hair from morning to night. Conclusion: if your day calls for big and fabulous hair, this hairspray should be your go-to.
