The Easiest Holiday Hair Hack Ever

I’m best known for my natural and laid-back beauty looks, but when the holiday season rolls around, I’m all about glitz and glam—the perfect red lip and glittery eye makeup. Still, when it comes to my hair, I never know what to do. Doing my hair takes up most of my time when I’m getting ready, and with the holidays being the busiest time of the year, it’s hard to find time to wash and style it. Busy times always call for hair elastics. In the past, I’d either deck my hair with sparkly hair accessories and tie it in a messy ponytail or just rock my go-to topknot. Needless to say, my holiday hairdos have always been super rushed and vv overlooked.

This year is going to be different. I’m still keeping the elastic in my hair, but, thanks to celebrity hairstylist Matthew Collins, my ponytail is going to be a lot more holiday appropriate.

Collins showed me a super easy and quick way to turn a regular ponytail into a knotted ponytail. This is the perfect day-to-night hairdo; it’s perfect for when you get a short-notice invite to  a holiday party. Best of all, it’s ideal for second-day hair!

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Part your hair down the middle into two sections.

Step 2: Take one section of the hair and twist it. Repeat with the other section.

Step 3: When both sections are twisted, loop both sections into a knot and pull tight to create a little knotted bun.

Step 4: Using two hair elastics, tie the ponytail in place right below the knotted bun.

Step 5: To hide the elastics, lightly pull at the ends of the ponytail. The elastics will pull right up inside the bun.
