The good news is, we’re having a great summer. The bad news is that also means the chances of your makeup melting off your face is at an all-time high. Naturally, some of my favourite products this month are directly the result of hot temps. Here’s what I have in rotation for the month of June.
YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Foundation
Because I’m a die-hard foundation girl and a Touche Éclat lover, this new foundation practically had me wagging my tongue the first time I lay eyes on it during a beauty deskside. It has everything I love about the Touche Éclat (from its light-boosting powers to the lightweight texture) bottled up in foundation form. You get luminosity without the dreaded greasiness and just enough coverage without any cakiness. This tops my list of new foundations.
Dior Polka Dot Manicure Kit in Plumetis
This cute little polish set is one of three in Dior’s limited edition Summer 2016 makeup collection. It comes with a nail polish duo and a dotting tool. Because it’s a miniature version of Dior’s regular polishes, it means I can whisk it away with me, whether I’m traveling to a different city or off to a cottage. And since I don’t have the most skillful hand when it comes to nail art, I do appreciate an easy polka dot mani. Thank you, Dior.
Maybelline New York Master Strobing Stick
I do love a good highlighter, which is why I’m not opposed to trying every new one that comes my way (and there have been a lot lately with the whole strobing trend). Maybelline New York’s highlighter stick is one of my favourites, especially if you’re looking for a more affordable version. It jives well with my olive complexion and it’s also incredibly easy to blend. Bonus points for not having that crazy shimmer that screams, “Hi! I’m wearing highlighter!” I’ve been really into using it for the inner corner of my eyes and cupid’s bow when I’m feeling a low-key, no-blush look.
Quo Glow Blush Stick in Cosmic
I talked about these in a recent segment I did on melt-proofing your summer makeup on The Social, and I’m obsessed for a reason. It doesn’t go on blotchy as some cheek sticks tend to, it’s long-wearing and the colours are fun and bright (aka perfect summer shades). My favourite is Cosmic and it’s amazing how a bit of it wakes up my entire face. The best blushes shouldn’t look like blush at all; they should look like your own natural flush–but better.
Tata Harper Boosted Contouring Eye Mask
Part eye cream and part eye mask, you use it by applying a thick layer on your upper and lower lids, leaving it on for 10-20 minutes and wiping it off sans water. The contouring part in the product name does hint that it’s meant for more heavy duty wrinkles and firming but it’s just as good when your eyes need some major TLC in the puffiness department. You get that Spanx-like tightening effect right after you use it (which is palm extract and red algae at work). It’s recommended that you use it once or twice a week. I use it as a bi-monthly treat.
