Beauty Hack: Liquid Eyeshadow for Metallic Lips

My new obsession is eyeshadow. After having an eyeliner-only routine for many years, I’ve started experimenting with different palettes and creating playful eye looks, and I’ve been stocking up on eyeshadows to make up for lost time. I’ve been testing all the latest pots and palettes on the market. And even for a newbie, creating different looks has been super easy.

The only type of eyeshadow I can’t get friendly with is the liquid kind. But let’s get real: Liquid eyeshadows are a trap! Their pigments are hypnotizing, but one mess-up can ruin your entire look. I’ve tried different liquid shadows and shadow primers and watched endless hours of  tutorials on YouTube, and I still can’t seem to perfect that liquid foil-like shadow the internet is drooling over. But I’m not giving up on liquid eyeshadows just yet. Instead of letting them sit in my makeup drawers, I’ve been applying them on my lips.

That’s right, you can use liquid eyeshadow to easily create metallic lips! Now there’s no need to order exclusive lip kits online (sorry, Kylie). Here’s how:

Step 1: Prep your lips with a moisturizing balm.

Step 2: Apply your favourite matte nude lipstick. Using a nude lipstick really lets the pigments of the liquid shadow steal the show. My favourite ATM is Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-matte Nude Lipstick in Raw Chocolate.

Step 3: Lastly, apply the liquid shadow as you would a lipgloss to the top and bottom lips and let it dry. Avoid smacking your lips together—that will create creasing and splotches. I’ve been wearing the Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow in Recharged, a beautiful metallic pink shade with golden undertones.
