Eye makeup removers I can’t live without

I love mascara. I lurve mascara. I loave mascara. I luffe mascara. (And also Annie Hall, if you couldn’t spot the reference.)
For me, it’s a desert island item and you’d be hard-pressed to find me without at least one tube on my person when I’m out of the house because you just. never. know. When I think my lashes are good and ready, I’ll add one more coat for luck. It’s one of the most transformative beauty products I can think of, and although the perfect scarlet lipstick can do the trick, mascara was my first love.

The only downside to my lash devotion is that taking it all off at the end of the day can be, well, challenging. Eye makeup removers are notoriously greasy or just plain ineffective and the ones that don’t work can be rough on my eyes, irritate the delicate skin in that area or even inadvertently pull out lashes.
Vichy’s Micellar Water and Bioderma Sensibio h2o are my secret weapons. I’m quite certain these super-gentle-but-mega-effective formulas would be able to stand up to the likes of Dolly Parton and patron saint of makeup, Charlotte Tilbury.

I dampen, not soak, a flat cotton pad with product, and wipe across my eyes with varied pressure and repetition depending on how far on the JLo-Beyonce-Nicki makeup spectrum I’ve ventured. The results? A clean face and a pile of soot-black cotton swaths.
Here’s to never waking up with raccoon eyes again!
