I Found a Mascara for Every Lash Need

I’m not a habitual mascara user, but there’s no denying the power of a magic wand—I’ll be the first to admit that just one swipe of mascara can make me look more polished (and more alert!). And there’s never been a better time to get on board with long, luxurious lashes. At Spring 2016 runway shows like Louis Vuitton, Mary Katrantzou and Marni (see below), dramatic, feathery fringes were one of the biggest beauty trends to emerge for the season. While I personally won’t be applying falsies on the regular, I can definitely make more of an effort to emphasize what Mother Nature gave me. One thing’s for sure, there’s no shortage of mascara formulas to put to the test. Here are five fabulous options that got me batting my new and improved lashes all over town:

Gold star for application: Quo Holy Grail Mascara

You can really load this brush with product (which obviously leads to super-sized lashes), plus the slightly hourglass shape means you can manoeuvre closer to the base of your lashes. Another bonus: The wand itself is shorter than most so it’s a lot easier to control!

Gold star for staying power: Maybelline The Falsies Pushup Drama

This mascara really goes the distance. Even on a marathon day that took me from the office to an after-work event, this long-lasting formula didn’t budge, and there was no smearing, flaking or (gasp!) raccoon eyes.

Gold star for drama: Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

For a big night out when you really want to go for the gusto, this mascara can’t be beat. It delivers on all fronts—volume, length and lift—for seriously mesmerizing peepers.

Gold star for length: Joe Fresh Lash Define

I applied this mascara for a previous blog post, and it wasn’t until I saw the final images online that I realized how long and lush my lashes looked—wowza! This is now my new go-to for everyday oomph.

Gold star for lift: CoverGirl The Supersizer Fibers

My lashes were seriously perky after swiping on this mascara. They looked like they’d been curled pre-application (they hadn’t). The formula’s built-in fibres definitely gave my natural lashes the falsie treatment.
