How I’m Getting the Bushy Brow Look

When I was a young girl, my mother never let me pluck my eyebrows. I remember getting so mad at her because I wanted skinny eyebrows like all the hip, cool girls, but thank god I listened to her and didn’t touch my full, bushy brows! Last year, heavily drawn-on “Instagram brows” were on-trend. This year, natural bushy brows are back, popping up all over runways and magazines.

If you have thin brows, you still have a chance to grow them, thanks to various products that stimulate hair follicles. There’s also the option of micro-blading, if your eyebrows can no longer grow.

The products I used to create my bushy brows are:

  • Benefit Browvo! Conditioning Primer
  • Joe Fresh Universal Brow Tint
  • Nyx Tinted Brow Gel

Step One: I applied Browvo! Conditioning Primer by Benefit, a clear, nutrient-rich gel formula that primes and conditions my brow hairs. In one swipe, my brows looked fuller and thicker. The gel formula has keratin and soy proteins, so over time your brows will actually grow (!).

Step Two: I then used a spoolie to brush all the hairs upwards. This creates a full, model-like brow. If you wanted to go for an au naturel look, you could stop here.

Step Three: I used Joe Fresh Universal Brow Tint to fill in my brows. It’s a liquid pen that goes on very faintly, allowing you to draw hair-like strokes that look natural. I love this product because it’s easy to use and forgiving if you make any mistakes. I just like to follow the natural shape of my brows using light strokes.

Step Four: To finish, I used Nyx brow gel. I’ve tried many gels before, and this one is my favourite. It adds colour and hold in one simple stroke, and keeps my brow hairs in place all day long.

Next time you’re thinking about plucking or shaving your brows (yes, people do shave their brows!), open up a magazine or check out Gigi Hadid’s Instagram page. Natural bushy brows are all the rage right now!
