How I’m making colour correcting easy

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard the term ‘colour correcting’ floating around the beautysphere. This trend is everywhere, with tons of brands launching collections that specifically target correcting and camouflaging. Quick little beauty school note: The concept of colour correcting is basically camouflaging any unwanted colours in your skin by counteracting them with the hue it’s opposite to on the colour wheel. So to hide redness, cover it with green, for sallowness use lilac, for bluish purple tones, go to town with a peachy pink, etc.

Having pretty significant under eye circles and plenty of blotchy redness (not to mention a handful of blemishes), I was ready to pack my bags and jump on board the colour correcting train. But being fairly new to the trend, I wanted to see if it worked before spending my hard earned dollar on another product I wasn’t going to use (seriously, you should see my beauty closet). Enter Essence Say No To sticks. These three wonder-wands are crazy affordable ($4!) and had all the colours I was looking for to fix my face (green, peachy pink and beige). Sounds easy enough, right? Let’s break it down:

Say No To Redness

This is the one I was most excited about since redness has been a constant struggle with my skin for as long as I can remember. I swiped it on my chin, under and around my nose and on any blemishes I wanted to camo. It seemed really weird to be slapping patches of green all over my face but it actually worked! Just buff out then cover with powder or a bit of concealer to take away the greenish-hue.

Say No To Dark Circles

I applied this one into the inner corners of my eyes and under my tear duct where my circles are the darkest. I found it worked much better on it’s own as it brightened under my eyes without having to layer anything else on top. I just blended it outwards with my finger so it looked natural.

Say No To Imperfections

I was skeptical about this one as I’m super pale and the shade looked like it was going to be dark, but surprisingly it worked well on my skin tone. I used it around the outer corners of my eyes and on the bridge of my nose to even out my skin tone and add a bit of a highlight.

You can use just a little (or a lot, no judgments here) to help achieve your dream complexion. These sticks make it super simple and the creamy formula makes blending easy and completely foolproof (just how I like it).
