How I’m Using Yellow Eyeliner to Amp Up My Cat Eye

A classic winged liner is an easy way to draw attention to your gorgeous eyes, but a graphic, colourful liner is a complete showstopper. I couldn’t help but notice the amount of vibrant liner looks on my Instagram feed lately, and yellow seems to be the colour of choice for social media stars like Samantha Ravndahl and Desi Perkins. I felt inspired to give yellow a try myself, and here’s how I did it.

Prime Your Lids
The key to pulling off this playful look is to start with a good base. Begin by priming your lids to ensure you have an even and long-wearing canvas for your shadow and liner. Here I used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.

Contour Your Eyes
Next, create depth by using matte shadows. Often a light cream colour and a soft brown one will do the trick in adding some dimension to your lids. I used a few shades from my Urban Decay Naked Palette (one of my go-tos).

Add the Yellow
For a vibrant pop of colour, I used NYX Vivid Brights in Vivid Halo. A little goes a long way, so be sure to use only one coat of this liquid liner. The key to creating a flawless line is using small strokes. That way you have more control over the shape you want to create.

Accessorize
You can simply rock the yellow or pair it with a black gel liner like Maybelline Lasting Drama for a little more oomph. I’ve paired this eye look with bold brows using the Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Brow Gel and the Precisely, My Brow Eyebrow Pencil.

When it comes to picking other shades for your cheeks and lips, be sure to keep it soft. Remember, your eyes are the focal point for this look!
