Face contouring is definitely the step that either makes or breaks my beauty look. Skip contouring entirely? Never! Nothing else can give this round face the definition it needs like a good contouring job.
I met with Estée Lauder Global Makeup Artist, Bobby Wang, and got a refresher on how to perfect a well-blended contoured face.
Bobby’s Contouring Steps/tips:
1. Use a serum
Add a skin firming serum into your daily skincare routine. Before applying foundation, apply the Estée Lauder New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum to help sculpt the dimensions on your face. It’s super light and moisturizing.
2. Know your skin
Oily skin? You might want to stick with a powdered bronzer. If you want to achieve a dewy look, try a creamy contour palette. For the perfect finish, pick the best colour option to promote a natural and flawless contour. Luckily, the Estée Lauder New Dimension Shape + Sculpt Face Kit works best with my undertone and skin type.
3. Know your face
According to Bobby, finding where to place your product is the most crucial step to achieving a sculpted look. “The trick is to blow a kiss,” says Bobby. Puckering your lips will define your bone structure. Using Estée Lauder New Dimension Shape + Sculpt Face Kit, with the darker shade, draw a line from your ear (and under your cheekbone) all the way to your mouth.
4. Blend, blend, blend
The darkest area should be closest to your ear, right under your cheekbone. Start blending closest to the mouth and gradually blend upwards.
Since meeting Bobby, I can honestly say that I haven’t touched bronzer. I’m all about the cream contour palettes now. I think the Shape + Sculpt Face Kit is going to be a hard one to top. Surprisingly, it feels and looks a lot less cakey and it’s way easier to blend. Hello, cheekbones!
