I’m Combining Lipsticks to Create the Perfect Shade

The other day I was in a real dilemma—I could not decide between my favourite shades of lipstick. As my collection has grown, the daily decision has become ever more difficult—that is until I finally asked myself why I had to choose just one shade. My experimenting began, and I’ve come up with a few ways of rocking two shades of lipstick at once.

First, I tried blending one shade on the outer corners of my lips into another in the middle. I decided to start with a lighter shade, and Stila Stay All Day Matte Lipstick in Jolie worked perfectly. Then, using a small brush, I blended Punked Matte by Smashbox from the outer corners inwards. Voila!

Next, I applied one shade on the top lip and another on the bottom. One of my favourite combinations is Revlon Ultra HD Matte in Romance on top with NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Seoul on the bottom.

Of course I had to play around with adding a hint of gold to my pout. After applying Rimmel’s As You Want Victoria from the Moisture Renew line, I added the Gosh Metallic Eye Shadow Stick to the inner crease of my bottom lip.

But I couldn’t stop there with the gold. For my next look, I applied Anarchy from Urban Decay and lined the centre of my top lip with Razor Sharp Liquid Eye Liner in Goldrush.

Lastly, with Valentine’s Day around the corner, I was feeling the love, and I applied Talk to Me Matte from Smashbox for a vibrant pink base. Using a small brush, I created a heart shape between my lips with L’Oréal Infallible lipstick in Bold Bordeaux.

The whole lip art experimentation has made me pretty addicted to trying out new combos, and I’m excited to share more looks I come up with. Stay tuned!
