Why I’m Wearing Colourful Makeup This Summer

Forget those rules about bright makeup not being right for everyday wear, because being playful with your makeup is no longer taboo. I’ve put together a few looks that I’m hoping will inspire you to gravitate towards colour so you can feel confident while making a bold statement.

If you’re just testing out the waters, I suggest starting with a bright colour on your lips. There are many textures that are fitting for everyday wear. I prefer something with longevity, which is why I selected the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa. Because my lips were the focus of this look, I kept my other features soft.

You can always add more but it’s difficult to take away!]

Flushed cheeks are a beautiful way to add depth to your face. I used NYX High Definition Blush in Electro. For this look you can skip the contouring and simply press a blush brush onto the apples of your cheeks. When using a brighter blush try using only one side of your brush to distribute the product onto your cheeks while keeping the other side clean. Use the clean side to blend out your blush by sweeping the colour out to your hairline. This will create a soft gradient transition.

colour06[You can wear this on its own with a nude lip or pair it with a bold lip colour as shown.
As you can tell, I decided to go bold.]

Let the colour speak for itself when lining your lids with a coloured pencil. I used Essence Long Lasting Eye pencil in Turquoise to draw attention to my eyes.

I enjoy wearing the blue coloured pencil on its own, but you can also pair it with a black liquid liner to add more definition. Complete this look with a volumizing mascara like Maybelline Lash Sensational!
