In praise of eyeshadow pots

I’m pretty lazy when it comes to eye makeup. As obsessed as I am with every neutral eyeshadow palette that comes my way, in the morning, when I’m pressed for time, I’m more likely to reach for the most hassle-free product. Which means it’s probably not going to be a palette or anything that requires any thinking from my part.

Enter eyeshadow pots. Creamy eyeshadows in every finish imaginable (cream-to-powder, matte, satin, shimmery) that require little to no effort to swipe on. Because it’s literally that—a swipe of your finger to get just the right amount of colour with no strenuous exertion. It’s foolproof.

When I just want an everyday neutral, I’ll reach for Lise Watier Ombre Velours Suprême in Fumé Velours, a brown, chocolatey shade. This one has a matte finish and is infused with antioxidant-rich Labrador Tea extract (also a star ingredient in the brand’s skincare line).

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre

When I’m feeling fancy, my go-to is Chanel’s Illusion D’Ombre’s Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Émerveillé, a shimmery champagne shade. It’s the perfect amount of shimmer for someone who’s generally averse to anything OTT. It also has a great cushiony gel texture that you can easily apply.

So really this is a PSA for anyone who likes their eyeshadows low-key and fuss-free—there’s a pot for that.
