My biggest makeup mistake? Not knowing when enough was enough.
Before I knew there was such a thing as tinted moisturizers and BB creams, foundation was my best friend.
That was way before I started subscribing to YouTube channels and understanding the basic steps of applying makeup. “Full coverage” is what came to mind when I thought of how to achieve flawless skin. So wearing a full coverage foundation (along with many other products) every day was a must.
It is only now that I realize how ridiculous I looked and how the weight of my makeup might have been ruining the condition of my skin.
I have recently started using BB creams and I’m totally loving the comfort and look of natural-looking makeup. But on days when I have a lot redness on my cheeks and nose, BB creams don’t seem to make the cut.
After going back and forth to different foundations and BB creams, I have luckily found a lightweight foundation that offers the right amount coverage, while still giving me that ‘no makeup’ look. I’ve been using Stila’s Illuminating Liquid Foundation and I’m surprisingly impressed with the results. This lightweight foundation is very gentle on my skin, while giving me a sheer and natural-looking finish.
What I really like about it is that it gives a different finish depending on the type of tool you use to apply it. If you’re a little on the oily side, use a foundation brush. You’ll love the silky, yet semi-matte finish. There is absolutely no need to set your foundation with any powder. How great is that?
But if you’re like me and love the dewy look, apply this foundation using a damp blending sponge. The sponge will help even out the foundation and you’ll notice a sheer finish.
