As Glow interns, we’re always sharing things: Story ideas, new makeup products, blotting papers…you name it! We’ve officially morphed into what our editors have coined the “super interns.” Even though sharing is caring, one thing we definitely can’t trade is our foundation.
It’s not easy to find the perfect foundation, or create it. So we scoured the beauty aisles to find out if our fave brands considered both of our skin tones. Inclusivity should always be a top priority for makeup brands because nothing is better than feeling like your makeup is made for you, are we right? After hours of swatching, we narrowed it down to our top three brands that deserve a shout out for their wide range of foundation shades. Here are the best foundations for both light and dark skin tones:
Dior Diorskin Forever Foundation in 020, Light Beige and 040, Honey Beige
Shania: I’d consider this my new summer foundation because of its poreless effect and SPF 35. The darker shades in the Dior line are great because they don’t have a reddish hue like most of the others I’ve tried. Nobody likes looking orange!
Elena: The Dior formula is pretty heavy compared to what I’m used to, but if I know I have a long day ahead it’s the perfect foundation to keep my shine at bay and give me a look that won’t budge.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup Foundation in 1.0 and 8.0
Shania: I feel like this is the makeup you’d be wearing when someone throws you that, “Yah, but you barely wear any makeup” compliment and you’re just gushing with secrecy and happiness. It also has a weightless effect which is really great for summer humidity. I will say that I’m more of a full coverage girl so this is definitely a “good skin day” foundation.
Elena: You know when people say they have finally found the perfect foundation for them? Well I have, and it’s this one! At first I thought the consistency was too watery, but its light finish helped me perfect the “no makeup makeup look” and the shade seemed to melt into my skin.
Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Effect in 002, Vanilla and 010, Caramel
Shania: Hello highlighter! This super lightweight formula is picture perfect. I thought I wouldn’t like the sparkle but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Just like the Dior, I really like this shade. It doesn’t turn orange throughout the day and seems to match my skin tone perfectly, which makes me feel less anxious about blending. I’m gonna save the Dior for date night and use this less expensive option daily.
Elena: Ok, I’m sparkling. This formula was made for those who love the dewy skin look and with its light-filtering technology you are totes ready for your close-up. Revlon does a great job at providing a range of shades at a decent price, so no matter your skin tone you aren’t breaking the bank to find your perfect match. Although I love a good glow, I don’t think I’d use this on a hot and sweaty day. Instead, I’ll save it for the winter months when I’m lacking Vitamin D.
