The blush that made me sweep all other blushes aside

I’m a blush girl. My love is such that I lovingly (some would say obsessively) collect limited edition compacts and holiday sets of blushes I already own. That should give you a fair idea of my ongoing love affair.

In early spring, I was introduced to Stila’s limited edition Sun, Sea and Splash summer makeup collection. Stila makeup artist Kaci Harabedian showed the editors the new Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush, available in five shades. My first thought, was, “They’re way too bright!” My second thought: “But they look so cool!” The cool factor comes from their netted pot delivery system. The idea is similar to Korean cushion compacts but isn’t quite the same, I’m told. The mesh dispenses colour, and the blush, which is water-based, goes on smooth and sheer. I was Kaci’s guinea pig (or model, if you prefer) and she chose Water Lily for me, which is described as a vibrant rose, but actually looks Barbie Doll-level pink in the pot.

She applied the colour onto my cheeks and the finish, as promised, was sheer and dewy. The compliments rolled in. The real test for anyone who’s had a pro do their makeup is the crippling self-doubt that sets in when you actually have to do it yourself. It was totally fine when I tried to DIY. You can also build up the colour if you want a more intense flush or leave it soft and subtle. The best part: the blushes have been made a permanent part of the collection.
