Makeup trends come and go, but the smoky eye will always hold a special place in my heart. Perhaps it’s because your options are truly endless with this look. You can play around with different shades, create a totally natural look or get dark and dramatic. You’re the artist – you decide!
I’m a sucker for a natural golden smoky eye, but no matter what the end game is, any look can be created in just seven simple steps. Before getting started, it’s important to prime your eyes. This will make the shadows more vibrant and ensure that your creation lasts all day (and night) long. Now that you’re primed and ready to rock, let’s begin!
My go-to smoky eye products:
- Pür Secret Crush Eyeshadow Palette
- Lise Watier Féline Eyeliner HD in Black
- L’Oréal Voluminous Superstar Mascara
Base your entire lid and brow bone area with the eyeshadow shade Lust.
Note: I find that pressing the shadow onto the lid rather than applying in a sweeping motion is best – this helps to prevent the eye shadow from falling.
Using the palette brush, apply Admirer onto the eyelid.
Apply Rendezvous onto the eye crease. Using a smaller brush, start in the outer corner of your eye and slowly blend along the crease line.
For a more dramatic look, apply Rumor onto the outer corner of your eyelid. I like to use a smaller brush and gently blend the shadow from the outer corner inwards.
Using a liner brush, blend Infatuation along the lower lash line. If you want your smoky eye to be darker, apply Rendezvous or Rumor instead.
Apply the Black Féline Eyeliner HD by Lise Watier along the top lash line and waterline.
Finish with some coats of mascara. I like to brush a few layers of the L’Oréal Voluminous Superstar Mascara Primer first to really build the lashes. Then coat my lashes with the mascara on the other side.
And voilà! You have a golden smoky eye!
