How I Recreated the Wet Nail Look

Whenever I’m stuck on outfit, makeup or manicure ideas, I always turn to my Instagram dashboard for a little inspiration. One of my favourite Instagram accounts to follow belongs to the nail art queen herself, Madeline Poole (@mpnails), Sally Hansen’s Global Colour Ambassador. This summer, I’ve been creeping through her account about two times a week, and whenever I scroll through her feed I usually decide to switch up my mani. My favourite manicure she’s recently created has to be her wet nail look. Sound a little questionable? Well, believe me, it’s pretty lit (check out the photo below).

I love this look because it totally reflects my summer mood: Chic and sweaty (seriously, don’t these nails look like they’re sweating?). So, of course, I had to recreate it.

Here’s what I used:

  • Quo by Orly Color Amp’d Nail Polish in Speakeasy
  • Quo by Orly Nail Polish Matte Topcoat
  • Essence The Gel Nail Polish in Absolute Pure
  • Essence Nail Art Duo Stylist

Step 1:
After I shaped and buffed my nails I applied two coats of Quo by Orly Color Amp’d in Speakeasy (a light nude shade) and let it dry.

Step 2:
It’s time to mattify! To avoid any bumps and bubbles, I applied only one coat (trust me, less is more) of the Quo by Orly Matte Topcoat. Matte nails are a definite must to create this look to really contrast with the “water droplets” that I’ll be applying in the following step.

Step 3:
Using the Essence Nail Art Duo Stylist, I lightly dotted a few drops of Essence The Gel Nail Polish in Absolute Pure, a clear polish, on each of my nails to create the wet look on my nails.

It doesn’t get any easier than a three step mani! If you’re all about brightening up your nails this summer, feel free to swap the nude with any other shade of polish.
