Deciding on what type of manicure you want for your wedding day is a serious deal. Like come on, it is the occasion when everyone is going to be staring at and taking photos of your hands, so you want to make sure you have the perfect manicure to properly show off the new shiny addition to your ring finger.
If you’re still torn between a classic bridal or bold coloured mani, underside painted nails is the trend you need to try. We first spotted this super-fun trend when Adele sported the look at the 2012 Grammys. This is a unique way to personalize your wedding nails, without straying away from the traditional bridal-appropriate nudes and pastels (talk about business in the front, party in the back). You can literally have the best of both worlds! Plus, it’s a huge bonus if you’re still looking for that “something blue”.
To create this look, I started off by painting the underside of my nails with Essie’s Nama-Stay The Night. Of course, you can personalize the underside of your nails with any shade you want, but I thought this blue hue was perfectly bright enough for others to notice the secret pop of colour.
Once I finished painting the back side of my tips, I let them dry off while painting the front side of my nails as per usual. Here, I layered Paul & Joe nail polish in shades 01 and 02 to create this soft nude colour. When both sides of my nails were completely dry, I applied a shiny topcoat. You want to make sure to apply a topcoat to the undersides of your nails as well so the blue doesn’t look chalky.
Creating this nail look was fairly easy. All you really need is a detailing nail art brush for precision application to paint the backs of your nails with, nail polish remover to clean up any mess and, of course, long nails!
Whether you’re the bride, a bridesmaid or just a guest, this nail look is perfect for anyone looking for special nails for a special occasion. I know I’ll definitely be rocking this look for a while.
