While I’m a card carrying member of the “I Love Nail Art” club, the majority of the time you spot me my nails will be left au naturel. I’d love to wear a bold shade of polish or cool design on the regular but I don’t have time (does anyone?!) to keep on top of my tips. Seriously, I’m envious of anyone who’s always sporting perfectly manicured hands, it seems like such an impossible task. I’m also unfortunately not one of those lucky people who can actually paint their own nails, so bare nails it is most of the time for me (and I know I’m not the only one out there with this dilemma!). Which is a bummer since my natural nails are pretty underwhelming (please see below).
I’m always looking for a super low maintenance way to keep my digits looking polished without having to visit the nail salon so when Deborah Lippmann’s Genie in a Bottle landed on my desk I was immediately intrigued. This product can easily be filed under: GENIUS. It’s a purple tinted base coat that colour corrects any stained or yellow tones on the nails. After brushing on one coat of this magic maker I started wondering why all base coats aren’t purple. It’s such a sheer hue (it doesn’t look purple on) and adds a bit of a pearlized finish. It makes such a big difference, as it makes nails look healthier, brighter and more polished (pun intended). The photographic evidence below isn’t drastic, but IRL it really did make my nails look so much better. The best part? It’s completely and totally foolproof. Even the most unskilled nail painter can paint two coats of this primer on and not have to worry about making a mistake. And if that wasn’t enough, it contains super ingredients like vitamin E and biotin to strengthen your nails. Paint me in love/impressed/addicted.
