When your job requires you to test all kinds of beauty products, it’s a miracle if you manage to reach the end of anything. My friends and family know that I’ll often use half or a quarter of something before taking it out of the beauty queue. Anything that makes the cut and ends up in my regular rotation means that I like it very, very much. Here are some things I’ve emptied, scooped and squeezed out until the last drop (and then panicked like Chicken Little about them running out).
Tata Harper Redefining Body Balm
I’m a big fan of Tata Harper’s body products. The Fortifying Body Lotion is one of my favourite lightweight body lotions to use, especially in the summer. I’ve never been big on beauty balms until I was introduced to this one. Even though it’s probably better for winter months, I prefer it in the summer when the balm melts more easily in my hands and is much easier to apply (without having to use too much).
Benefit Coralista Coral Blush
Obviously I love all kinds of blushes, but this one is in my Blush Hall of Fame. See that little unused corner in the photo above? I’m going to try to use that up too because that’s how much I love this shade. The coral colour works really well on olive skin tones like mine. When I’m more tanned in the summer or after a sunny vacation, it looks like a great bronzer.
NeoStrata Night Repair Cream
This is my second (almost empty) jar. I wish more people knew about this night cream. I’ve always said that you don’t need fancy packaging for something to be good and this is one of those instances. The clinical-looking jar holds the secret to my skin.
Bioderma Hydrabio Serum
Bioderma ranks pretty high on my list of favourite French pharmacy brands. I love the Sensibio H20 micellar water obviously, but here’s another winner—the serum from the Hydrobio range. It targets dry, sensitive skin like mine and doesn’t leave it irritated one bit. It also layers well with pretty much any moisturizer.
John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-Up Crème
I don’t always use a lot of styling products in my hair but when I do, this one always makes the cut. If I’m checking in luggage, I always, always pack this frizz-fighting cream when I travel. I really wish they sold a travel-size version here in Canada (John Frieda, can you hear me?).
