How to Use the Multi-Masking Trend to Get Perfect Skin

Multi-masking is trending in skincare, and I’m here to give you the lowdown on finding the right multi-masking formula for your skin. There are a number of different concerns and combinations of concerns, so it’s not going to be one size fits all, but that’s the beauty of it: It can be customized to fit your needs, and you can switch it up if you have different concerns in different areas of your face.

I used three masks to tackle three areas of my face.

This moisture-rich mask uses hyaluronic acid to reduce redness and fine lines. Dragon’s Blood, sourced from the red sap of the “sangre de drago” tree, protects skin from environmental stresses, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It corrects skin tone while super charging skin with hydration, which is especially helpful during cold Canadian winters.

Target Area: Forehead lines, under eyes and smile lines.

I found a very noticeable improvement while using the Dragon’s Blood mask, The lines on my forehead were significantly reduced. You could use this mask all over for a full face plumping effect, it’s mild enough and the best part is there’s no need to wash it off—you just go to sleep and let it soak in.

This little gem is part of a collection of three masks from L’Oréal Skin Expert Paris. Each one contains:

Kaolinite– a mineral that’s ideal for masks due to its absorbent properties. It helps rid the skin of impurities and removes excess shine without stripping away natural oils.

Montmorillonite– a clay known for its purifying and rebalancing properties. Creamy to the touch, it swells up when in contact with water.

Ghassoul– a clay of volcanic origin extracted in Morocco, where women use it for face masks and poultices.

The exfoliate and refine mask contains red algae to remove dead skin cells, smooth imperfections and tighten pores in 10 minutes! After washing it off, I could feel the change in the texture of my skin, especially on my nose, which can feel a bit dry and rough when the pores have not been treated for a while. The centre of my face is where I have the most noticeable pores, so I used this mask to take care of it. My skin looked really healthy and smooth afterward, and my pores were significantly less noticeable.

Target area: T-Zone and upper cheek area.

Lastly, I wanted to target the lower part of my face, mostly my chin, where I have some darker pigmentation. I needed something that would help colour correct my skin and address some small scars from breakouts.

I found the Mychelle Incredible Pumpkin Peel Mask really helped treat my issue. The  formula contains a powerful bioactive pumpkin blend that exfoliates to clear away impurities, while fruit extracts encourage skin renewal for a smoother, more radiant complexion. The slight tingling sensation makes it feel like it’s really working, because it is! Just do a patch test to make sure your skin isn’t sensitive to the active ingredients, which are:

Lactobacillus/Cucurbita (Pumpkin) Ferment Extract – this promotes even exfoliation by maintaining balanced hydration and healthy bacteria that convert elements into lactic acid to rehydrate the skin.

Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) – an antioxidant that infuses the skin with phytochemicals and fortifying compounds to strengthen cellular responses and accelerate exfoliation.

Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil – this stimulates detoxification and microcirculation, purifies blood and lymphatic fluid to expedite the healing of acne and provides antibacterial and anti-fungal actions.

Target area: Jawline and chin.

After using the treatments for a week, I have noticed a complete change in my skin’s texture and look. It’s super radiant, youthful and glowing! Who doesn’t want that?
