My New Year’s Resolutions for Healthy, Glowing Skin

I don’t know if it was the stress of my last year of university or the US election, but 2016 was really tough on my skin. From extreme dryness to annoying breakouts, my good skin days were slim to none. So in 2017 I’m on a mission to bring my skin back to its former glory. Here’s what I’m doing to get glowing again, because no matter what year it is, healthy, radiant skin is always on trend.

Sweat it out
Like many people, I started off the new year by hitting the gym more often, with harder and sweatier workouts. But all the sweat and oil have caused unwanted bumps around my chin, upper lip and forehead. Recently, I’ve added Live Clean Fresh Face Refreshing Face Wipes to my list of gym bag staples. Glowy skin starts from within
I know I’m not the first to say this, but healthy skin really does start with what you put in your body. Adding more skin-healthy foods to your plate makes a big difference. Fruits and veggies like tomatoes, beets and kiwi give your skin a boost, while healthy fats like avocados and extra virgin olive oil.help keep it soft and youthful. And it’s no secret that drinking lots of water is key to keeping skin hydrated and luminous. But this year I’m adding coconut water to my daily menu. It’s super hydrating for your skin and body, and you can use it to wash your face for an extra glow.

Take it off
I hate waking up with last night’s makeup smeared across my face and pillow. When I go to bed with makeup on, I find that my skin is extra dull in the morning and my eyes feel dry and irritated. But taking off makeup doesn’t have to be a chore, and I found using micellar water to be a real game-changer. Simple’s Cleansing Micellar Water is effective, super affordable and very gentle on skin, especially around the eyes. I follow it with an exfoliating cleanser and coconut oil, and me and my skin are ready for a good night’s sleep.

Naked days = the best days
When I have a breakout or am just feeling “blah” about my skin, it seems almost instinctive to cover my problem spots with makeup. But really, I should be taking a day or two to let my skin breathe and recover. For 2017, I’m going to try to give my skin one makeup-free day each week. But I am going to cheat a bit. Even when I don’t feel like wearing makeup, I always do my brows. It adds just the right amount of polish to my face.
