The products that are helping me save face this winter

I don’t know about you, but as much as I like to stay warm (obviously!), indoor heating doesn’t do my skin any favours. In addition to my usual complaints, such as hormonal breakouts and dark spots, I also find myself dealing with dull, flaky skin at this time of year. Thankfully, I have an arsenal of products that are helping me cope. Here are a few of my current favourites:

Look Beauty’s Lemon Sheet Mask converted me to Team Sheet Mask. Not only does it give me a reason to set aside 20 to 3o minutes of “me time”—it helps that you can’t actually do much with a sheet mask on your face—it also delivers a sorely needed moisture boost. The mask’s nourishing serum, which is loaded with vitamin E, collagen and lemon extract, soaks right in, leaving me with skin that’s soft, supple and dewy.

I’ve never met a pie I didn’t like (apple, pumpkin, lemon meringue…they’re all good in my books), but then along came PIE (Postinflammatory Erythema or PIE for short). PIE refers to the discolouration that’s left behind by a pimple, and sometimes the aftermath is worse than the actual breakout in my humble opinion. Enter TriAcnéal Expert Emulsion by Avène. This skin-saving potion is chockfull of powerful ingredients like Diolényl (which restricts bacteria growth) and Retinaldéhyde (which smooths fine lines), and after just two uses, the biggest, baddest dark spot on my face is less noticeable.

Last but not least, Caudalie’s Glycolic Peel has quickly climbed to the top of my must-have list. When my pores are feeling clogged and my complexion is looking lacklustre, I reach for this 10-minute fix. Even though it contains glycolic acid, this treatment is gentle enough for my sensitive skin, and every time I use it I feel glowy—it’s like an instant vacation!
