I’m a huge bandwagoner when it comes to makeup trends. I’m always open to trying new and different ways to improve the look of my skin, so of course I had to try colour correcting makeup. NYX Color Correcting Concealer has been in heavy rotation in my beauty routine for a while. Although I really like how lightweight it feels on my skin and how well it hides my redness and dark spots, the concealer obviously doesn’t solve my skin problems—it just covers them up.
As I said in a previous post, I’m a true believer in the saying, “your makeup will only look as good as your skin,” so why not tackle the root of the problem? I decided to leave colour correcting behind and tweak my skincare routine to solve my problems once and for all. To take on redness and dark spots, I’ve been using two creams: Korres Wild Rose Brightening Targeted Tone Corrector and Vichy Normaderm Corrective Anti-Acne Treatment.
To reduce the look of dark patches, I apply the Korres tone correcting cream during the day, before applying my makeup. Infused with wild rose oil and vitamin C, it’s formulated to treat visible scars and spots while evening out your skin tone.
To treat my pimples, redness and scars, I’ve been applying the Vichy treatment cream nightly, after cleansing. Its star ingredients include salicylic acid combined with LHA and PhE-Resorcinol. Without getting down to the nitty-gritty of these components, they fight acne marks, redness and those unwanted (and sometimes painful) pimples.
Since I started using these products, I’ve noticed that the dark patches under my eyes and around my mouth are slowly disappearing and the blemishes around my chin aren’t coming back quite as often. In other words, I’ve been reaching for my colour correctors less and less.
